Melplash
A great day at Melplash started off with a 1.45am start to make the long journey there!
The first class of the day was the Lightweight ridden hunter, where justine and Todd (Kansas Toddle) fnished second. It was then a quick trot back to the lorry for a swap of horse and jacket with five minutes to spare! Justine rode the Davis' Holtess Hampton Court to win the Small hack class and Qualify for HOYS! We were all delighted as Hampton has only been back with us a few weeks and he only had a couple of chances to qualify so the long journey to Melplash paid off! Justine then had to rush out of the ring, throw her ladies gear on...literally! (veil, skirt, bowler etc) and after persuading the stewards to hold the ring for five minutes justine did the ladies. It was all a bit off a rush though and the saddle was slightly on the wonk! so they finished fourth, Justine was still really pleased with Todd's attitude and obedience as this is only his second time in the ring with a side saddle on and about 5th time with it on ever! It was then a mad rush to change back into the hack gear and hop back onto Hampton, where justine won the championship! We then heard a five minute call for the HOYS open Working Hunter Class, Manny (Mainly Manhatten) was quickly got ready and warmed uo, Justine had another quick change into her tweed gear, walked the course, jumped a fantastic clear round and won the workers! By 11.20 all of our classes were finished and we finally got a cup of tea and a sit down!
