Star of the day has to be Royalview Candyman - 1st in a massive SP Lead Rein class of 22 and Qualifying for HOYS, well done to Will Morton and Flo.

Sophie Hartwell did well to get placed in the Hoys 13.2 show ponies.

A rainy day at Hickstead started with Carrhouse Dare To Be going fabulous in a large HOYS class of small hacks to be pulled 2nd to finish 4th and highest place novice - really pleased considering its his 5th show and first hoys class!

I then jumped a great round on Andor O having an unlucky pole to finish 5th.  Carlingfords King then jumped in the novice worker and had a few poles but did really well for his first time round Hickstead.

Fabulous day at South of England winning the Lightweight Working Hunter with 'Andor O' and standing Champion in the lovely main ring.

Rachel Shaw on Drummore Hazy Mist and Ida Beer on Greenholme Falcon were placed 5th and 9th in the HOYS juniors.

Sophie Hartwell gained 5th place in the 13.2 show pony

Andor O - 2nd LW Hunter

Carlingfords King - 2nd MW Hunter and 3rd Open Worker

Market Mill - 3rd HW Hunter, 2nd Novice Worker with Will Morton

Greenholme Falcon 1st NPS ridden with Ida Beer

Drummore Hazy Mist 2nd NPS open with Katie Shaw and 3rd with Justine in Novice WHP

Fab sunny day on Saturday with Carlingfords King winning the Middleweight Hunters and standing hunter champion. He was 2nd Novice Hunter and jumped his first Open Worker to be 2nd.

Market Mill was 1st Heavyweight Hunter and Master Richie 2nd in the Sport Horse Class ridden by Will Morton.

Millie Cox's Rumplestiltskin won the coloured pony RI class then Andor O jumped a super clear round to win the workers and be Champion for the second year running!

Last class of the day saw Royalview Candyman pulled top in the lead rein finishing 2nd - ridden by Florence Cunningham Bryce, well done Will Morton and Flo!

Details:

Stable Name - Pete (Pit)

Beware Chalk Pit, 2004 Thoroughbred gelding by Anshan.

Privately bought as a four year old from Doncaster Store Sale by Dr Peter and Ann Leftley as he didn't make his reserve. Hoping for a potential steeple chaser, he proved too slow for hurdles so he then went chasing with great success, winning twice and being placed ten times.  Trained by Jonathan Geake, he ran a total of 24 times and won his last race ridden by jockey Mark Grant.  After 7 years of racing Pit had his last run on the 12th January 2015 before connections decided to think about a new career with him.

Pit arrived at the yard at the end of February 2015, a month after his last race with a view to retraining him as a show horse for the Retrained Racehorse classes.  We weren't sure what to expect with a fit thoroughbred that had raced for so long, however, Pit dispelled any concerns about 'difficult racehorses' due to his fabulous temperament.

Pit, is on lease to Rebecca Court for the 2016/2017 Season and will continue to contest the Racehorse to Riding Horse classes alongside some Riding Horse classes.
